Gettin' Real

This blog will include my thoughts on what matters in life, at least from my ever humble perspective. "See matters in life as they really are, not what the powers-that-be tell you they are."

Coming Soon...

OK, life has been quite busy. I've been seeking out a few other job prospects, been semi busy with my business (continuing to achieve my financial goals at least), found out I'll be out of debt much sooner than I thought (WOO HOO!!!), trucking through the Divine Comedy, active in church and busy with music and all the little things that might add up to big things one day. I promise to post pictures in the next few weeks of my time spent on the XIT Ranch, my recording class at the college (and project), of my PRECIOUS time with Ragan (flying in from Hawaii tomorrow), my time at the fashion market in Billings (so thankful that Myra gets to come with me), etc. I'll post a blog on the mysterious Myra in all eventuality. :) All I will say is that she has become a genuine friend to me here. In fact, she's going to spend a few nights with me at Assumption Abbey in the Spring for my Birthday:

Here is to a fulfilling 2008 and new beginnings.

Story to Tell

I wrote this song the other day and love it. I've begun guitar lessons again and have some musician prospects to get more of my stuff recorded. Here's to keepin the hope alive...

Everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell
Yeah everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell
Small town heroes just givin’ Harry hell
Everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell

We gather at the Beer Jug come Saturday night
In comes Sharlee Henry—she’s a lookin’ for a fight
And she still feels she’s got somethin’ to prove
And everybody talks how she thinks she’s smooth

Everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell
Yeah everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell
Small town heroes just givin’ Harry hell
Everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell

A friend in Colorado came to see me in jail
He was just lookin’ for a story to tell
He acted pretty tough while tellin’ the story
This was his chance—a few minutes of glory

Everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell
Yeah everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell
Small town heroes just givin’ Harry hell
Everybody’s lookin’ for a story to tell

Daddy was a gambler—a poker kind of man
By the way a man fidgets he said he knew his hand
Said Kim listen closely—this is his tragic flaw
Ain’t no man above the unwritten law

Gather around all you people and get another beer
I have a story and you have an ear
Whoever says life is boring in this town
Just ain’t taken the time to sit with the crowd
